Charlie Houston “Brotherhood of the Rope” Video

I've written quite a bit about Charlie Houston, the climbing legend who sadly passed away in September.

Just the other day, I came upon a video of Charlie speaking and sharing his film from K2 in 1953. It was shot in 2005, but includes the entire DVD that shipped with his memoir, The Brotherhood of the Rope.

Watch, and enjoy:

Jake Norton is an Everest climber, guide, photographer, writer, and motivational speaker from Colorado.

Yet another vote for dinner at Dad’s. The trade-off benefit for you could not only be more “quality” time at the end of the day, but have breakfast with them, which will be easier to pull off if they are not dragged out of bed in the morning. So if they go to bed earlier, they wake earlier. My husband often misses dinner during the week, but he eats breakfast with the kids 95% of the time and it’s a great experience for the family.

Very moving recording there, thank you for allowing people to hear it. It gave a remarkable recollection on what happened way up high on K2 in 53′. What an account of the miracle belay performed by Pete Schoening, the best in the history of mountaineering by far it seems.
