I’ve been going through the archives a bit here recently, and was looking again at some of my gigapan panorama images from expeditions around the world. One of my favorites, which is currently on display at the American Mountaineering Museum, printed beautifully at 4′ by 8′ on metal, is this 135-frame shot taken of Mount Everest, Lhotse, and Nuptse (plus surrounding peaks) from Pumori Camp 1 on April 16, 2012.

It’s a pretty fun image, taken on a nearly-cloudless morning, so the detail is pretty solid in all areas. Take a peek here, zoom in as far as you like, and let me know what you think!

I’m now putting together a 2009 panorama from the South Col on Everest with a full 360° view. Stay tuned!
